Previously, the Trump campaign aired an advertisement that featured infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. Following Dr. Fauci’s criticism of taking his words out of context, Donald Trump attacked the expert.
Dr. Fauci recently criticized Trump and his campaign for taking his words out of context in one of their latest campaign videos that featured him. The video in question was about the administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, touting the efforts the federal government has made to combat the pandemic. This is, despite millions of Americans getting infected and over 210,000 killed. The ad also made it appear that Fauci was endorsing Trump. This led to Trump blasting the health expert on Twitter, mocking his pitch during a Washington Nationals game.
“Actually, Tony’s pitching arm is far more accurate than his prognostications. ‘No problem, no masks.’ WHO no longer likes lockdowns – just came out against. Trump was right. We saved 2,000,000 USA lives!!!” tweeted Trump.
Fauci was also among the health experts who questioned Trump’s decision to continue holding in-person rallies despite having contracted coronavirus himself more than a week ago. Trump continued to downplay the severity of the disease and continued to claim that he was immune to COVID-19 after having suffered it for a few days. Following his diagnosis, Trump was sent to Walter Reed medical center for treatment, staying there for a few nights.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark Milley also voiced his criticism towards his own image being used by the Trump campaign to make it appear that he endorses the Republican incumbent.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues for Trump to release his tax returns, following the records published by a piece in the New York Times several weeks ago. Once again, Trump has turned to the Supreme Court and filed a request to block the subpoena demanding that he release his financial records.
Should the Supreme Court decide to hear his appeal, then it would be the second time the court has tackled the case. This is part of an ongoing investigation into the Trump Organization. The probe entails the hush money payments made to women who allegedly had an affair with Trump as well as possible tax crimes, and bank and insurance fraud.
